Our book group will be getting together in a week to plan the books we'll read throughout the year.
Any great suggestions? Favorites you've read in the past year?
I plan on tossing "Leadership and Self-Deception" and "The Princess and Curdie" in the ring.
In 2008 our book group read:
Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Peacegiver by James L. Ferrill
Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
I am a Mother by Jane Clayson Johnson
Hatchet by Gary Paulson
Any book about finances
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
One of Ours by Willa Cather
Train to Potevka by Mike Ramsdell
Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Life of Our Lord by Charles Dickens
Charms for the Easy Life by Kaye Gibbons
I have absolutely NO idea!

You could definately throw in Austenland. You haven't read that! Other than that, I'm not sure. I haven't had much pleasure reading for awhile. What about Fablehaven??
ReplyDelete"Girl of the Limberlost" was one we read in our reading group.
ReplyDeletePlus the series "The Great and Terrible".
I'm reading a book right now called "For the Children's Sake." She has some books on her family's "living book" list that I either haven't hear of, or have heard of, but don't know anything about them:
ReplyDeleteKon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl
The Wheel on the School by Meindert Dejong
The House of 60 Fathers by Meindert Dejong
The Heroes of Asgard, by A. and E. Keary
The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier
Ring Out Bow Bells by Cynthia Harnett
Johnny Tremaine by Esther Forbes
Star of Light, Tanglewood Secrets, Treasures of the Snow, and Rainbow Garden by Patricia St. John.
