Given that scout camp is coming up and I always go crazy with some project while some of my men folk are gone, I've been trying to decide what to do this year. Here is a list I've been putting together of possibles, and I would love to have some input. An informal poll, if you will. I was going to include pictures, but just imagine the worst and you'll probably be close, so please chime in and let me know what you think I should do and why.
* Basement clean out (again)
* Paint (this would include areas of the kitchen and hallway especially)
* Garage clean out
* Sew my sister and brother-in-law's awesome quilt that I owe them for last Christmas (no, sis, you aren't allowed to vote)
* Our bedroom (let me just say ugh right now - ugh)
* Lay around, read, eat bon bons, and watch movies.
* Oh yah, and play with the kids (pretty much a given, as if they would let me leave them alone)
If I think of any more I'll add them on. Feel free to come back and vote more than once, because unless your really persuasive, it will probably be whatever I feel like doing when I wake up that morning, or after the kids go to bed and I can really get things done.
I think I have done all that you mentioned while dad was at Scout Camp with one of your brothers.... except the quilt of course. Make sure you do the 'bon bon's' at least one day though. I don't know which I would put at the top of the list.....I don't know how many times I cleaned out the basement so dad could finish it before he finally did.
ReplyDeleteThat was by mom by the way!! Not anonymous...
ReplyDeleteBeing Fresh off painting my kitchen & hallway while Mike was off to scout camp, my vote is paint ONLY if you have somewhere to send your kids for the day! (You can let them help you get ready by washing the walls and taking the switch plates off.) We are free tuesday and wednesday afternoons if you need us! Otherwise...quilting sounds the most fun (no your sister didn't pay me to say that) but if your house is like mine, the bedroom will give you the most peace when you are done. :) How's that for voting for just about everything. By the way Bon Bons are gross!
ReplyDeleteMom - I'll have to reserve the bon bons day for after I stay up too late for a couple days and can't function anymore. You know how that goes.
ReplyDeleteKathryn - I would probably boot everyone to bed and then go crazy painting. Thanks for the offer, I will certainly keep it in mind. :)
I can't imagine Marni relaxing with some bon bons. I might pay money to see that...
ReplyDeleteMy very unprofessional vote is do your bedroom first. Life always goes better when my bedroom is clean, sheets changed, and the floor is vacuumed. Although it is always nice to get a project, like the quilt, done because then you don't have to worry about it any more. There's my 2 cents worth.
ReplyDeleteI vote for your basement because then you can post photos and inspire me to get mine cleaned out. Have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteTodd - How much?
ReplyDeleteCami - Hmm... very good thoughts. Our bedroom is always last on the list because I'm never in there except to sleep. If I go in all these little people follow me. Very good point on the quilt.
Lara - I did a little in the basement Monday night. I should have taken before pictures just in case I get a lot more done.
Update: Tuesday was definitely bon bons day. Took a drive with a couple other "scout widows" to have Bear Lake Raspberry shakes with our scout camp escapee hubbies.
